Which Bosch Dishwasher Should I Buy?

You have to be impressed with the current line of Bosch dishwashers. Bosch offers everything from stripped down units in the Ascenta dishwasher line, to the quietest and most energy efficient dishwasher in the US market in their 800 Plus series.

If I had to recommend one Bosch dishwasher that I believe held the most value for the consumer, it would have to be the 500 series SHX45p05UC (if the customer was looking for a stainless front with hidden controls). If the consumer wanted visible controls, then I would opt for the Evolution series SHE55P05UC. 

Both models are under $900 on the retail side when you factor in rebates but their performance puts them on par with dishwashers that cost almost double.

The Shx45p05uc offers:

- a stainless tub

- 47 decibels which is very quiet

- 4 wash cycles

- Energy Star certification

- Quick wash

- Aqua Stop system which prevents flooding

The specs on the SHE55P05UC are virtually identical, however it offers even one more wash cycle than the Shx45p05uc.

And you can't argue with the quality of Bosch dishwashers. This is the product category that the Bosch company established their reputation for quality in, and even though some within the appliance industry chirp that Bosch doesn't engineer their dishwashers to the same level that they did when they first introduced to the US market, I resoundingly disagree. I sell hundreds of Bosch dishwashers on an annual basis and simply never receive complaints from customers, other than the occasional "It's so quiet I don't even know if it's on".

The SHX45P05UC has been a particularly strong seller because it brings many high-end features to the proverbial table and blends well with the Thermador, Wolf, SubZero and Viking high-end kitchens, but yet doesn't cost up to and over $1500 (which is my magic number for ridiculousness on the dishwasher pricing scale - the outrageous prices on some dishwashers will be fodder for another entry in the future).

So if you are looking for a great dishwasher, and don't want to spend over $1000 but you want looks, value and performance, consider the Bosch SHX45P05UC or the Bosch SHE55P05UC. You'll be quite happy and I promise that washing dishes will go from being a chore to a semi-pleasurable event.
