Shopping for a Bosch Dishwasher

More times than not, when I have a customer in need of a dishwasher, the decision will come down to the following brands - Bosch, GE Profile, KitchenAid and to a lesser yet viable extent, Electrolux/Frigidaire.

Even though Bosch dishwashers command a higher price point than the comparable GE Profile and KitchenAid models, the Bosch dishwasher outsells them by a significant margin. Why? The company has clearly done a fantastic job building the Bosch dishwasher brand over the last 15 years in the US Market. Once only a product that could find a spot in the wealthiest of homes, Bosch re-focused its business model from just competing against Miele and ASKO and instead broadened their dishwasher line to offer price points that could go as low as the $500's. Bosch has been able to offer the brand cachet of a modern, Euro-style dishwasher that emphasizes DURABILITY, PERFORMANCE, ENERGY EFFICIENCY while bringing in the product at a reasonable price point.

1 - They are extremely quiet. The Bosch 800 Series Plus is a whisper-quiet 40 decibels. That is the quietest dishwasher in the market. Even the 300 Series and 500 Series dishwashers which rate at higher decibels are relatively quiet compared to the competition.

2 - They work! I don't see many instances of Bosch's breaking down. There was a recall on certain Bosch dishwashers from a few years ago, but it was limited in scope and Bosch has done an excellent job retrieving the troublesome models and applying fixes for them.

3- They are extremely energy efficient. Bosch was a "green" company before it became a major trend in corporate America. Bosch dishwashers have emphasized lower consumption of electricity and water, thus they are friendly not only to Mother Earth, but to your wallet as well.All Bosch dishwashers currently adhere to the stringent 2011 Energy Star requirements.

4 - Style. Bosch offers a variety of handle styles as well as colors (black, white, stainless) as well as options for integrated units that accept custom panels.
